Mares: Myths, Migrations and the Mothers of Flamenco, a Flamenco dance performance inspired by controversial female Flamenco artists of the 20th century and the shaping of tradition by breaking with tradition. The San Francisco Flamenco Dance Company, under the artistic direction of Kerensa DeMars, partners with world class Flamenco artists from Spain to bring the World Premiere of ‘Mares’ to the Brava Theater September 17-18, 2016. The cast includes guest artist Antonia Jimenez on guitar, gypsy flamenco singers Kina Mendez and Jose Cortes, percussionist Luis de la Tota and dancers Kerensa DeMars and Melissa Cruz.
Performances Saturday September 17 at 8pm, Sunday September 18 2pm.
